Mobility grants 'European Sustainable Water Goals' - Call for application to a mobility Grant to participate in the conference 'Managing Water Resources in European Mountain Environments' to be held in Belluno, Italy, 8-12 October 2007. DHI Women's Water Fund - DHI Women's Water Fund is being offered to support women in developing countries in advancing their career opportunities in the development and management of water resources. The first call for applications earlier this year yielded a number of highly qualified candidates. In the selection process the Board gave priority to applicants with some years of practical experience in water resources management, rather than applicants with mainly academic or strictly technical backgrounds. The Board also prioritized applicants with a current leadership or management position in government, NGO or private sector with a potential to develop further in this role through support to career development. Based on the above criteria the Board decided to award five grants to women from Iran , India and Armenia. Next call for applicants is expected early 2008. Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water - Nomination is opened for the 3rd Award 2006-2008 of the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water. This international scientific prize is a significant contribution from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the global water issues which represent one of the most pressing human, economic and political concerns worldwide. The Prize is intended to support water scientific research worldwide with a sense of appreciation extended to the concerned intellectual inventors with an aim to provide them with a suitable, moral, and financial atmosphere conducive of a free and vivid spirit of contest. Essay Competition

'The International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group (IFC) and the Financial Times (FT) are pleased to jointly announce their second annual Essay Competition. This year's theme is 'Private Sector Development: Creating Markets, Transforming Lives.'

'The Competition is soliciting action-oriented essays that:

  • Provide insight into current Private Sector Development (PSD) research
  • Develop and support the implementation of leading-edge PSD initiatives
  • Strike a balance between conceptual and practical considerations for private-sector involvement in developing countries, and the effect of that involvement on development
  • Reflect innovative, data-supported research resulting from the author's own professional or academic work
  • Target economic & financial policymakers, the international financial community and/or international domestic investors
Six awards will be granted to the top papers as judged by the Awards Committee:

  1. Gold Award US$20,000
  2. Silver Awards, each US$10,000
  3. Bronze Awards, each US$5,000

IFC and FT will publish all winning essays on their external websites and may provide publication in additional formats at their discretion.

Entries acceptance: April 25, 2007 to September 30, 2007.

Conference Scholarships

800 scholarships are being offered by Asia-Pacific Conference on Reproductive and Sexual Health (APCRSH) to attend the conference on 29-31 October in Hyderabad, India. Authors of abstracts, participants of the Asia-Pacific, NGOs and others are eligible to apply. Deadline of submitting the scholarship application will be on 31 July.
